The first impression is decisive!
Being well prepared is (at least) part of your success
Gather as much information as possible about your possible future employer
Be punctual
It is better to be a few minutes early, rather than being one minute late – schedule ample of time (journey time, traffic jam, search for parking space, etc.)
Your appearance should be neat and faultless, both adjusted to the branch as well as to your position and your type (colours, style, image). Dress the way as if you already had the job!
Good manners are crucial
Wait until the human resources manager puts forth his/her hand! Wait until you are offered a seat. You score by being friendly, motivated and enthusiastic, show also your interest!
Mind your posture
Just like the way you walk, the way you shake hands and the way you sit, your posture tells more about you than you think!
Expression
Express yourself in a cultivated, clear and positive way, do not talk negatively about former employers. A confident, natural appearance is sought after today. Your appearance should be polite, friendly, attentive, calm, reliable and correct (do not be submissive or too upfront).
Be proactive
At the job interview you should proactively address the requested key qualifications. Give examples from your professional and private life that prove these qualifications without being asked for. Ask interposed questions, they show interest and initiative, but do not interrupt your conversational partner. Ask about the company, your future work scope and position as well as possibly also about the organisation of the workplace. Also try to explore the future perspectives of the company and the position you apply for.
